Precepts are principles and guidelines that keep us on the right tracks in life. God gave us His precepts to shield us from evil and keep us in the centre of His will at all times. A wise Christian will exercise himself to obey all the precepts of God. Satan can never get hold of a child of God who is obeying the precepts. Knowing precepts and following them are superior to 'hearing' the voice of God in the life of the child of God
